Today T-Mobile USA announced that the Sony Ericsson TM506 is now available for purchase for US$79.99 after a $50 rebate when purchased with a 2 year service agreement. The TM506 is the first Sony Ericsson cellphone to be offered by T-Mobile USA in quite some time, and is also the first ever HSDPA 3G phone that T-Mobile has offered.
T-Mobile is currently in the process of rolling out its 3G network. New York was the first city to see the benefits of the high-speed access, back in May, and Las Vegas users got the green light early last month. The company intends to add at least 20 additional markets to the 3G network before the end of the year.

Boingo Wireless and Sony Ericsson have announced that owners of Sony Ericsson UIQ 3.0 handsets can download the Boingo mobile Application and use the 80,000 different Boingo hotspots around the world. That number includes 500 airports, hotels, coffee shots and more.
The service isn’t free though like the offering for the iPhone. The Boingo service will cost $7.95 per month with no per-minute or charges per megabyte of data sent or received. The service will be available in Europe as well.
“An increasing number of smartphones with Wi-Fi capability are now available in the market, giving consumers the option to access their favorite phone applications over a fast and inexpensive connection,” said Jonathan Mendelson, general manager of Boingo Mobile. “Sony Ericsson customers can now experience the broadband speed and great online experience provided by Boingo Mobile Wi-Fi.”

The Swedish manufacturer returns to its roots by introducing the Sony Ericsson T700, the successor of the popular T610.
Sony Ericsson today announced the slim and elegant Sony Ericsson T700 building on the heritage of the T610 launched back in 2003. At just 10mm thin, the Sony Ericsson T700 mass market phone features a 3.2-megapixel camera, stereo speakers, 2-inch display and a 512MB memory card out-of-box.

The FCC has revealed the first Sony Ericsson cell phone to land on T-Mobile since the T610, which was discontinued in 2004. The Sony Ericsson TM506 is a clamshell handset, clad in an oddly tinted green color scheme.
Based on the FCC documents, the Sony Ericsson TM506 offers tri-band GSM (850/1800/1900MHz) and support for T-Mobile’s AWS (1700MHz) 3G network. A GPS receiver is also built-in, and the ability to geo-tag photos with location information is supported out of the box. The FCC documents do not reveal any specs on the camera, but there are photo and video editing tools included on the cell phone.
The Sony Ericsson TM506 also features a Memory Stick Micro (M2) card slot for expanded memory, as well as Bluetooth connectivity.
You can view the FCC documents, including the user manual, here.
