The Siemens SL65 is a true jewel in technology and design. And like any jewel, you have to slide the two shells of this tiny giant to open it up. Once uncovered, the inside of the SL65 unveils a whole set of high-tech features. A built-in digital camera allows for video and image capturing in excellent quality. And just in case you are for once not right in the middle of the action, the digital still camera features a 5x zoom function.
The Siemens SL65 comes in two tantalizing color schemes: Ebony and Ivory. Almost needless to say that this top notch mobile features triband technology and internet access via GPRS. And if you would like to enhance this unique design-phone, there are plenty of practical accessories for you to choose from. Like the stylish Headset Purestyle, the only tool pretty enough to be attached to the SL65. Or the CarKit Easy, a simple to install and use handsfree option for the times when you are on the road.
Review By Imobile
The Siemens SL65 is equipped with a VGA digital camera, and the 130 x 130 pixel display does a great job as a viewfinder when you put into consideration its size and the size of images captured. They will turn out squashed, but the handset has the ability to zoom in on images at full size. Themes can be used to change the look of the user interface, and they come with screensavers, wallpapers, and totally new colour schemes all in the single package. Unfortunately they don’t change the icons of the main menu, like Symbian themes do, but I guess I’m going to have to live with this new design that Siemens have used in two models now.

The SL65 is the replacement for the Siemens SL55 slide-phone. The SL55 promised a lot but failed to deliver, so we were interested to find out how the SL65 stacked up. From the outside the SL65 looks even more gorgeous than the SL55 with its two-tone body and compact slide design. However, with the SL55, the beauty was just skin deep, so we need to look further to find out what the SL65 is really made of.
Review By Mobileburn
The compact Siemens SL55, a phone we first caught wind of almost exactly two years ago, was a popular little phone. It arrived on the scene before the slider format started becoming really popular, and it was small enough and capable enough to capture the attention of most people that saw it. We would have loved if it had come with Bluetooth support, better battery life, and a better display, but it was still a winner.
Review By Cnet
The black and silver exterior of the Siemens SL65 creates a professional look fit for workers on-the-go. It’s flexible enough to look like a man or woman’s accessory. Although slightly heavier than its predecessor, the SL55, the phone weighs in just under 100 grams and easily fits in your handbag or pocket. The 65K-colour TFT display and 130 x 130 pixel screen is ideal for viewing colourful images and photos.
The top half of the SL65 slides up to reveal the keypad underneath. We found no problem manipulating the keypad for text messaging as it gives enough space for big thumbs.
Review By Infosyncworld
The Siemens SL65 weighs in at 99 g, and certainly looks good both in its open and closed modes, measuring 90.2 x 47.6 x 20.9 mm when in the former state. With elegant curves, the slider mechanism, which also doubles as a keypad lock, offers just the right amount of resistance. The keypad itself is definitely an improvement over that of the SL55, now featuring large and flat buttons even though it remains a bit noisy. Another feature of the keypad is the well-rounded joystick; a little too much so, apparently, as ones thumb has a tendency to trail off every now and then.

Siemens SL65 was to offer excellent design (what more is necessary for a fashion segment?), good polyphony and high functionality. First photos of SL65 roused interest to the device and the phone looked attractive. And nobody took specification data into consideration. Functionality also was supposed to be high because the device excluding the screen is a copy of the whole 65 series. The choice of the functional 65 platform as a base for a fashion phone brought side effects. The first and the main one is an increased size (90.2 x 47.6 x 20.9 mm against 82 x 44 x 22 mm for SL55). One of the basic sales factor of Siemens SL55 was worsened on purpose in this model thus the device got less attractive for its target group. The mass is 20 grams more and the device weights 99 grams against 79 of the previous model

With the cute Hello Kitty charm, (supplied with the phone), this mobile turns into a coveted fashion accessory and veritable eye candy. Adorning the front of the high-quality casing, which comes in shimmering metallic pink, is the image of the world-famous cat. The back panel of the casing shows through in contrasting, elegant white. Hello Kitty’s logo with matching writing makes the back an interesting eye-catcher.

The specifications are a little basic - the BenQ-Siemens AL26 has a 130×130 pixel display, but no camera, Bluetooth or MP3 player. It does comes with GPRS, a WAP 1.2 browser and Java support though, so it will meet most people’s basic needs.
It’s a very lightweight phone, at just 78 grams. Despite this, the BenQ-Siemens AL26 has a pretty good battery life giving a maximum of 5 hours talktime and 9 days standby.

Another phone to emerge from the overactive stables of BenQ Siemens in the E81, a full-size UMTS mobile which promises to be the perfect amalgamation of multimedia and business capabilities. However this one unlike other smart phones isn’t bulky and measures just around 99.8 x 46.7 x 16.7 millimeters! The handset includes an 1.3 megapixel camera with LED light and a 1.8 inch TFT color display (262,144 colors). This one too like the current crop of BenQ mobile phones sports a media player for music and videos and supports interchangeable Micro-SD cards.
The BenQ-Siemens E81 is aimed at individuals wanting UMTS 3G data connectivity in a small package, and certainly delivers a nice combination of form and function. This mid-range handset not only looks good, but also delivers a specification list beyond what would be expected from such a small handset.
Review By Phonemag

It’s yet another slim clamshell as BenQ-Siemens rolls out the EF81 - fortunately with a better keypad than the prodigal ’slimshell’, the Motorola RAZR. It also boasts a large, bright and otherwise excellent screen, which the multimedia functionality unfortunately fails to exploit fully. 3G is also present, and in combination with Bluetooth offers snappy web browsing on the handset itself as well as for business users. Lastly, its 2 Megapixel camera is affixed in a rather unusual manner which requires users to open or close the handset in order to change views.
