The Samsung Instinct has received a firmware update that includes a number of small tweaks as well as updates made to its base code. Users should notice increased audio volume when using Bluetooth, less fluctuation in the phone’s signal and battery indicators, and the ability to set a saved image as the background wallpaper. Samsung has also told us that the update will allow recurring appointments in the calendar and will also include a few improvements to the web browser.
Samsung Instinct owners can manually update their cell phones over the air by going to Menu, Settings, General, and choosing Update Phone. Sprint will be pushing out a text message to all Instinct owners over the next few weeks that will also alert them of the update.
This firmware update also makes changes to the base code of the Instinct, in preparation for a much more significant upgrade that is planned for later this year.

This is the Samsung i740, which got an official press release in Kiev last week. Powered by Windows Mobile 6.1 (Pro) it’s a tri-band GSM (900/1800/1900) touch-screen device with a auto-focus 3 megapixel camera and flash.
The device also has GPS and an optical joystick for phone navigation with a microSD card slot for added storage. Inside is a 150mAh battery and FM radio, although there’s a distinct lack of 3G or WiFi connectivity, turning this into a handset which will provide a rather slow browsing / email experience. Still, you at least get a business card reader and a 240×320 screen and the sat-nav capability.
Expect to see this in shops across the Ulkraine in August for around $1949 (woah!) There’s no word as yet on whether this will appear elsewhere.

On the heels of the Sony C905 announcement, Samsung unveils their first 8-megapixel camera phone. The new phone, on the Internet already known as the model i8510, has been baptized the Samsung innov8, a far from innovative name that will not win any marketing awards (just check Google). The phone is equipped with a 2.8" LCD monitor and GPS technology offers navigation and geo-tagging service. The Samsung innov8 is going to be launched in Europe in August, and then expanded to other markets during September…

A little variety wont hurt, will it? Well, certainly not and on that same note we bring to you the Samsung BlackJack II is a stylish and uber-cool new avatar. Unlike the original this ain’t boring and regular looking, though I really liked the red one. It’s a great Windows Mobile smartphone that has everything you would want in your phone unless you are not the boring types. It’s got colour varieties like a pretty pink and cool blue. Fantastic designs on the back plate and unlike the originals, the stylish new models feature contrasting white fronts with colour-coordinated keys.
Both phones are available for just $99. That is rather cheap considering the sky rocketing prices of other phones. Lets get loud people!

This is good news for those who love the look and sound of the Samsung Soul but were not particularly impressed with its dark metallic exterior. Perhaps you were after something that says a little more about you - that you love pink perhaps? Well now you inner thoughts have been answered, as it now comes in pink. You’ll be happy to know, this version of the Samsung Soul doesn’t have any watered down features either, which sometimes happens in this kind of situation. It’s exactly the same phone, just in a friendlier shade. ![]()

Samsung’s cellular phone division is today claimed to be working on a smartphone sporting an 8.0-megapixel camera. It would be among the first, if not the first, handsets available to the public with such a high pixel count. Thus far believed to come to market bearing the i8510 name, the phone’s camera would feature autofocus and a xenon flash. It would also allow video recording at 120fps.
Other features of the smartphone are believed to include Wi-Fi access, integrated GPS and HSDPA data network access. Less common features found in the class include a TV output and DivX support, along with a dedicated 3D graphics chip making the most of the 2.8-inch 240×320 pixel (QVGA) screen with 16 million colors. Onboard storage is generous, with 16GB of internal memory built in, with an 8gb version a possibility.
Between the TV output and an available optical mouse, the i8510 could act as a decent portable media center. Power will come from a 1200mAh battery.
Information such as pricing and availability was not mentioned, and can only be guessed at.
