Review By Digit-Life

The company chose quite a simple and obvious way to design its own budget smartphone. It’s based on a successful HTC Tornado platform (well known by Riemma/Qtek 8310) without the most expensive components — Wi-Fi and QVGA support, the latter is replaced with a traditional MS Smartphone 176×220 display. The resulting product was redesigned and voila, a new smartphone. This Qtek model was planned to have the 7200 index. But in the light of HTC rebranding, it will get a new name, not yet known at the time this article was written. Right before this article was published, we’ve received unofficial information that the model would be called HTC S310.

At the left side you see a sound volume slider. With some additional utility you can assign other actions to it, for example, Up/Down (it will be easy to read e-books and browse Web-pages). There are also a voice recorder button and a camera button. All side elements feature a soft move, but thus they are vulnerable to accident strokes, when you remove your communicator from the case (you’d better activate hold function). The back panel of the Qtek 2020i hides a battery compartment and a camera lens, nothing else.

The 200 megahertz OMAP 850 processor in the Wizard is more impressive than we were expecting. It has a number of on-chip features to help process audio, networking, and other commonly used processes which helps speed things up. Unfortunately even with the added speed bonus of the on chip processors the Wizard is a little slow. When using multiple applications the device can seem sluggish or unresponsive.

The form of double buttons above and under the screen is imposed by design and symmetry with slight harm to ergonomics (compare the proportion of the soft button and Talk button). The joystick is quite big and comfortable, if you turn the device in landscape position and use buttons above the screen, you can play some games, which do not require many buttons.
