Philips working on a 3-inch touchscreen Xenium X-Connect?

image

A couple things you should know about this purported Philips Xenium X-Connect before churning your gadget juices through the emotional Osterizer. First, it’s clearly a product rendering. Second, Philips Xenium cellphones are primarily found in Asia Pacific region — as such, a European or North American launch is likely out of the question. If the X-Connect is the real-deal, however, here’s what we’ll be missing: Windows Mobile 6, 3G UMTS/HSDPA radios, GPS receiver, AA/AAA battery backup, microSD slot, and Bluetooth 2.0 all powered by a 624MHz Intel processor beneath a 3.0-inch (presumably touchscreen) display. Still, as a broadly positioned “communication device,” maybe we’ll see Philips reach out to different geographies this time around.

Philips Xenium 9@9e Review

tn_Philips_Xenium_9@9e_1.jpgtn_Philips_Xenium_9@9e_2.jpg

The clamshell-design Philips Xenium 9@9e provides all the power needed to stay connected and take care of business with an extreme long battery life providing more than a month’s standby time or 8.5 hours of talk time.

The Xenium 9@9e has a 1.3 Megapixel (1280 x 1024 pixels) camera with 4x Digital Zoom for close ups, and the ability to take nine continuous shots at a go, saving picture files as GIF, BMP or JPEG files. Images are displayed on a 128×160 pixel UFB 65K color screen, while an 80×48 pixel monochrome OLED sub-display on the clamshell replicates information such as time, signal strength and battery life.

To connect to online multimedia services, the phone supports the GPRS class 10 (4+2) and WAP 1.2.1 standards. The phone uses Java 2.0, and implements SMS, EMS, MMS and e-mails. To keep hold of vital information, the Xenium 9@9 can store details of up to 1000 people or businesses, with a maximum of five entries each (e.g. home, mobile, fax, work, etc). The phone’s 20MB memory can also store up to 250 SMS messages.

Review By Philips

The Philips 9@9e. One of the best business decisions you’ll ever make.
The sleek and compact exterior of this communication device belies its incredible storage capacity of up to 20MB of memory for your use. So that, for instance, you could store up to 1000 phone book entries with 5 numbers each or 30 minutes of voice recordings.
