NEC will be launching it’s new N905i phone in Japan. The N905i comes with a 5.2 megapixel camera with face-detection and auto-focus function, high-speed mobile web browsing along with HSDPA support and a 1-Seg TV tuner. You can pick up the N905i in red, pink, white, or black. No word on pricing or availability at this time, but we’ll keep you posted.

This is probably one of the most creative concept phones that I’ve come across in some time, because the external casing on the NEC Flask phone is completely transparent, letting you see the liquid fuel cell power housed within.
What makes this handset even more interesting is that this liquid inside actually drains as you use the phone, giving you a fairly accurate representation of how much power you have left. NEC makes no mention of how you would go about refilling the phone with more juice, but this still provides for fascinating conversation fodder.
The interface looks like it is based on touchscreen and/or e-paper technology, and the soft colorful options point us toward a more feminine-geared product. I know that it sounds far fetched at this point, but NEC is saying that the liquid-filled Flask cell phone will be ready some time this year.

NEC announced the launch of its 12.9-mm-thick 1-Seg handset ‘N905iμ’ in Japan market, which is equipped with Yamaha’s audio engine supporting high quality sound.
It is expected to be available in Japan market on November 26.

NEC L1 is the model number for the handset in Asian market, which the handset is called e949 in Europe. While looking at the product show in Asia, you will see the model number of L1 seems to be more appropriate, as they simply made up the word “L” and “1″ with 2 handsets, which fully illustrated how thin the phone is. The phone is as thin as 11.9mm, even 2mm thinner than the Motorola V3. Apart from the dimensions, NEC L1 has also abandoned the scoop-like speaker. With revolve antenna for phone, metallic black colored design and OLED display for date/time or caller display, it’s easy to get seduced not just by its thickness.

The 1.3-megapixel camera takes pictures in six resolutions (1,280×1,024, 640×240, 352×288, 176×220, 176×144, and 128×96). Features include a self-timer, a 5X zoom (varies by image resolution), and a burst mode, and you can also choose from three quality settings, six fun frames, four lighting modes, three color effects, and three shutter sounds (there’s no silent mode).

On the software side, the L1 offers support for Java MIDP 2.0 along with a WAP 2.0 microbrowser, PIM suite, calculator and currency converter. Also, the L1 is equipped with 64-tone polyphonic ringtones, claiming a battery life of up to 100 hours of standby time and up to 140 minutes of talk time; apparently the price one pays for slim.

This 11.9mm thin phone is the thinnest 2.5G clamshell phone in the world today, and it gained the most attention of all the devices in NEC’s booth this year. It is a triband GSM (900/1800/1900hz) handset with Bluetooth, and should be introduced in Europe soon. It is already available here in Hong Kong.
