LG gives a red update to Keybo

image

Someone at Telus probably realized that the LG KEYBO’s QWERTY keyboard was a great tool for messaging, and that girls didn’t always like black. In light of that realization, the Canadian CDMA carrier has decided to launch a new color for the KEYBO, namely pomegranate, which looks aimed at the ladies. The specs and price of the pomegranate colored model are the same as the standard black one, with the usual QVGA screen, Bluetooth, music player, GPS, microSD card slot, and will be going for CA$49.99 on a 3-year contract.

LG unveils Viewty successor, the KC910

image Today LG unveiled the successor to its popular Viewty touchscreen handset, the new KC910. The KC910 is what LG is touting as the only 8 megapixel cameraphone with a full touchscreen interface as well as the thinnest 8 megapixel cameraphone , thanks to its slim 13.95mm profile.

LG’s new flagship handset has a large 3″ WQVGA (400×240 pixel) touchscreen display that promises to provide users with a high-quality multimedia experience when it comes to both photos and videos. Speaking of video, the KC910 is capable of recording clips with frame rates ranging from 5 to 120 frames per second, meaning that it can make videos that run faster than normal as well as those that slow down fast action to a more easily viewed pace. None of this would be possible, of course, without the KC910’s Schneider-Kreuznach lens equipped camera, which has an effective ISO rating of up to 1600 and is backed up by a true xenon flash.

Other features found on the KC910 include an A-GPS module for navigation as well 3G HSDPA data connections for up to 7.2Mbps of download speed. WiFi is also on board for further data convenience.

LG has said that it will provide further specs, including the cellphone’s “pet name”, in the near future. In any case, LG says that the KC910 will be available for purchase in October of this year.

New LG Voyager in Titanium from Verizon

imageVerizon Wireless and LG today added the cool looking LG Voyager Titanium phone into their portfolio of touch-screen phones. The Titanium Voyager doesn’t bring too many new things when compared to the old black one (which, by the way, is now out of stock). The main difference (besides the color) is that the new Voyager comes with Verizon’s Visual Voice Mail and V CAST Music with Rhapsody services pre-installed. “Boasting the same stylish dual-screen design and features of its predecessor in black, the Voyager in Titanium has a lustrous titanium finish and also supports two of the hottest services from Verizon Wireless - V CAST Music with Rhapsody and Visual Voice Mail”.

Verizon Wireless customers can access a library of more than 5 million songs with V CAST Music with Rhapsody, purchase full songs over-the-air and download the master copy of the songs to their PCs free of digital rights management software. Customers can also sync favorite tracks, albums and playlists from their PCs to their Titanium Voyagers using the included USB cable. Also, it looks as if Verizon has dropped the Visual Voice Mail subscription price to $2.99 a month per line. Visual Voice Mail allows customers to better manage their messages on their new Voyagers. Customers can delete, reply and forward voice mail messages without having to listen to prior messages or voice instructions. Visual Voice Mail is the ideal tool for the busy mobile professional who may need to prioritize which messages he or she listens to first. This is good, but we still would much rather Verizon offer the visual voice mail without a monthly fee at all. The LG Voyager in Titanium is available at the same price for $149.99 after a $50 rebate and a new two-year contract.

LG KC910 is the 8-megapixel successor of Viewty

image

LG just officially announced to us the successor of the Viewty, the KC910. It is an all-in-one multimedia phone, sporting 8-megapixel camera, Dolby sound for music, and DivX and XviD support for video playback. At 14mm thickness, LG announces the KC910 as the slimmest 8MP phone on the market. It has Xenon flash, Schneider-Kreuznach lens, ISO up to 1600 and can capture video in VGA resolution at 30fps and in QVGA at up to 120fps for slow motion effect. Thanks to a built-in GPS, the photos can be geo tagged with the coordinates of the place they are taken at.

Other camera features include option for manual focus, face, smile and blink detection and digital image stabilizer. The KC910 is a quad-band GSM with support for HSDPA 7.2 Mbps, has Bluetooth 2.0, Wi-Fi, microSD slot for up to 8GB of memory, 3-inch WQVGA 240×400 touch display and TV-out for watching images or videos on larger screen. There is no information if it will run on the same interface as the Viewty and the KF700, or on a new one. LG says that it will come to the market in October of this year.

LG Glimmer AX830

imageimage

image

LG’s Glimmer, Alltel’s flagship fashion phone, brings touch-screen style to the number-five carrier. This is definitely an attractive phone, but usability quirks leave me less than wholly enthusiastic about it.

A gunmetal-gray slider phone with a brushed metal back, the Glimmer is pretty big (4 by 2.05 by 0.59 inches—HWD), and relatively heavy at 4.48 ounces. The front of the handset is dominated by a big 2.8-inch 240-by-400-pixel screen. Slide it up to find a lighted keypad of flat metallic keys that are just a bit too small to accurately press with the pad of your finger. There are lock, volume, and camera buttons on the sides, and a 2-megapixel camera with a weak LED flash on the back.

The Glimmer uses LG’s touch-screen interface, very similar to the one on Verizon’s VX10000 Voyager and AT&T’s Vu CU920. The phone’s home screen has five main icons: Main Menu, Phone, Messaging, Contacts, and a configurable Favorites button, which pops up a grid of nine of applications of your choosing. Since the Glimmer has a physical keypad, though, you enter text using the phone keys, not with an on-screen keyboard.

LG Chocolate 3 Arriving July 14th

image The new LG Chocolate has finally gotten a firm release date—it will go on sale July 14th to Verizon Wireless customers. Remember, this Chocolate is a lot different from LG’s candybars of old. It’s actually a clamshell with a small, 1.76″ touchscreen on the outside and larger 2.22″ normal screen on the inside. It features a 2MP camera and stores your media on 1GB of internal memory expandable to 9GB by 8GB microSDHC. Expect to pay $299 at full retail price or $129 with a 2-year contract.

LG KS360 shown off at CommunicAsia

With its slide-out QWERTY keypad and the flashily stylish red attire aside, the LG KS360 is pretty much any other 2.5G cell phone that is available in the market now. The horizontal 2.4-inch display has a resolution of 240×320 pixels and there’s a 2-megapixel on the back for your casual photography needs. The KS360 is designed to work with triband GSM topping out with GPRS/EDGE connectivity. LG has also thrown in a music player and an FM radio to go with the snazzy color, so this might be a good option for your musically inclined nephew or niece. USB 2.0 support along with Bluetooth round its connectivity options. There is no word on pricing or availability but we could be looking at an Asian release pretty soon.

LG Decoy packs its own Bluetooth headset

The girls in the picture aren’t that impressed with this World First. In fact, they look like they’re positively bored by the fact that LG has introduced a phone which packs its own Bluetooth headset. Perhaps it’s because when you slide out the headset from the back, you leave it looking like you’ve forgotten to replace the battery cover. That might be it.

It’s the LG Decoy, and whilst it’s initially being launched on Verizon, they’ve promised other countries in the future. As well as having a headset that charges whilst docked in the phone, it touts a 2 megapixel camera and microSD card slot.
