Other than that, the ASUS P525 also features SkypeIn, SkypeOut, Bluetooth 2.0 and GPRS. To seal the deal, the phone also features an 802.11b network connection allowing users to stream the internet at lighting fast speeds.

As for the dimensions, the ASUS P525 is 0.75 inches think, and features a 2.8 inch touch screen display for the ultimate experience. Aside from that, you will also find a 2 Mega Pixel camera for video conferencing on the go. The P525 runs the Windows Mobile 5.0 operating system, and is thus packed with office productivity features such as push e-mail, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and the ability to synchronise calendars, phone books and e-mail with a desktop PC and/or corporate Exchange server. Skype-in and Skype-out are also present, helping you to avoid eating into your regular phone credit while you’re in range of a wireless hotspot.

Speaking of wireless, the P525 is an extremely well-connected device, albeit no better than what we’ve come to expect from a modern day smartphone. Wi-Fi (802.11b), GPRS, Bluetooth, Infrared and quad-band GSM (850/900/1800/1900) are all supported. Synchronisation with a PC is accomplished using either Bluetooth or USB 1.1 connections.

The Federal Communications Commission has puts its stamp of approval on the Asus P525, a Pocket PC phone with a built-in numberpad.

Quite a few handsets running this operating system have either been released lately or are expected soon, but the vast majority of these have a built-in keyboard. The P525 will instead be for those who prefer the 0 through 9 keys traditional on phones.

Unlike a lot of other Pocket PC Phones available right now; for example, a number of models (think T-Mobile’s MDA) from fellow Taiwanese vendor High Tech Computers, the P525 does not sport a QWERTY thumb-keyboard. Rather, the smartphone has a traditional numeric keypad on the front and a 2-megapixel camera with flash on the back.

The camera also acts as a business card recognition device. Take a picture of a business card, and the P525 will automatically convert information on the card into Outlook’s contact list.
